Vintage Coverlet Heart Pin Discs & Scissor Pouches

In honor of Valentine’s Day, all of my offerings this month are heart themed. My first offerings are pin discs and scissor pouches.

These have been created using all vintage/antique materials (except for the cardboard centers). I started with a piece of antique coverlet for both sides. I like the thickness of these pin wheels and pouches as I used antique quilt batting. I have stuck several pins in the pin disks to get you started. The scissor pouches are the perfect size for a pair of antique stork sewing scissors. (Scissors not included.) An old pin with an antique key finish off the top. A Merry Heart Pillow

This pillow is based on a lovely design by Lori Brechlin of Notforgotten Farm. This cross-stitched piece features hand-dyed linen and floss that has been gently aged. It is backed with a coordinating soft flannel and a sweet appliqued wool heart and is filled with natural cotton stuffing. As with all of my creations it is completely hand stitched. This nice sized pillow measures approximately 8 1/2 inches wide by 6 1/2 inches tall. It is perfect for propping in a cupboard, tucked on a chair or lying in a large old wooden bowl.

Be Mine Heart Pillow

I just love the wonderful primitive heart shape of this pillow! This is based on a brand new pattern by Simple Goods Stitched by Jennifer Taylor-Gass. This cross-stitched piece has been primitively aged. It is backed with a coordinating burgundy and tan ticking and a large burgundy wool appliquéd heart. As with all of my creations, it is completely hand stitched. It measures approximately 6 inches wide by 7 1/2 inches tall and is accented with a little antique key. It is perfect for propping in a cupboard or lying in an old wooden bowl.

Wool Heart Pillow

My final heart themed offering is a sweet wool heart pillow featuring my favorite motif – the heart and hand. “Hands to Work, Hearts to God.” “Hand and heart shall never, when this you see, remember me.” These were the sentiments that ran through my mind while creating this piece. Completely hand-stitched, it is backed with a wonderful reproduction wallpaper pattern cotton. It measures approximately 4 by 7 inches.
