Ice Skater Needle Books

My inspiration this month is *Snow*. It is hard to believe, but here in Chicago we have yet to receive our first real snow. There has been a dusting here and there, but not even a full inch. I don’t want tons, we had that last winter, but just enough to cover the bleakness of winter and make things sparkle.

My Ice Skater Needle Books are both based on a design by With Thy Needle & Thread. These needle books measure approximately 3 inches by 3 inches when closed.

I’ve finished them with all vintage materials, an old blue wool blanket inside with an appliquéd snowflake from old white wool for storing your needles. The back cover is a vintage plaid homespun in blue, brown and cream. And a wonderful cotton tape for the spine and back ribbon closure that wraps around an antique mother of pearl button on the back of the book. They have a cardboard center in the covers, so are stiff enough to stand on their own for display. These needlebooks are completely hand sewn.

Snow Coverlet Pillow

My second offering features a simple sentiment appliquéd using an antique ivory wool blanket applied to an antique coverlet background. Completely hand-stitched, it is backed with a midnight sky navy blue wool and is stuffed with natural cotton batting. It measures approximately 4 by 10 inches.

Snow Cross Stitch Pillow

My final Snow themed offering is based on a design by Country Rustic Primitives. It measures approximately 4 inches by 6 inches tall. It is backed with the same vintage plaid homespun in
blue, brown and cream as shown on my needle books above. This pillow, like all of my offerings, is completely handsewn.
